Plot Summary :
With just one year having passed after taking out Ra's Al Ghul's plan to have Gotham eliminated and the mysterious disappearance of Dr. Jonathan Crane AKA the Scarecrow, and after the city was nearly plundered with his toxins, Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter-ego the Batman, continue the seemingly endless effort to bring order to Gotham, with the help of Lt. James Gordon and newly appointed District Attorney Harvey Dent. But a new threat has now emerged into the streets. The Dark Knight faces a rising psychopathic criminal called The Joker, whose eerie grin, laughter, and inhuman morality makes him as dangerous than what he has yet to unleash. It becomes an agenda to Batman to stop the mysterious Joker at all costs, knowing that both of them are in an opposite line. Batman's struggle against the Joker becomes deeply personal, forcing him to "confront everything he believes" and improve his technology to stop him. One has no method at all and seeks to see the world plunge into the fire he has yet to light. One represents the symbol of hope and uses his own shadow to bring the peace and order he has yet to accomplish doing. - imdb.com
Review :
Wow, this movie really blows me off, and I thought Iron Man is marvelous, but The Dark Knight is by far the most stunning movie I have seen in cinema in 2008, and probably the best of the year, bravo! Excellent script plus award winning performances makes it an instant classic! The director has take this sequel to another level in all aspect (the script, the characters, the city itself, and etc.). It is dark, complex, unforgettable, and it succeeds not just as an entertaining and powerful comic book film, but as a richly thrilling crime saga. A heart pounding and hugely entertaining movie with superb performances and spectacular action.
Christian Bale still plays very well as both the charming billionaire, Bruce Wayne and the mysterious Dark Knight, Batman. But the one who steals the show here is the late Heath Ledger, who plays a scary and creepy Joker that gives you the chills during his appearance throughout the movie, though insane but brilliantly smart, the Joker challenges people's mind psychologically. Maggie Gyllenhaal plays a better Rachel Dawes in this sequel, where she shows more sensitive and caring side towards Bruce, as well as stronger performance comparing to Katie Holmes flat performance in Batman Begins.
In short, this is a definite masterpiece, the best Batman film to date, and a brilliant comic adaptation. A solid 10 star and a must watch movie for all who appreciates top quality motion pictures. I have watch this movie twice, once in cinema during release and a few months after at home with the original DVD released by Thailand, and still I am looking forward to watch it over and over again 'cos it is a piece of art worth admiring.
Rating : 10/10 * Rating given based on movie genre because different type of movies cannot be compared.

The Dark Knight (Two-Disc Special Edition) (2008)
I owned this original 2-Disc Special Edition DVD which is released from Thailand and I found that this Thai version's video quality is not up to expectation as the color is not smooth and the pixel is a bit rough, if you love this movie or you are a collector I would suggest buying the U.S. released DVD or even better just get the Blu-ray Disc. This Thai released special edition DVD comes with Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 English audio and is in widescreen format. The special features include:- Gotham Uncovered: How Christopher Nolan and his team developed the new Bat-suit and Bat-pod and composer Hans Zimmer musically characterized the Joker’s reign of chaos.
- The Dark Knight IMAX® Scenes: View these 6 action-packed sequences--shot on the largest format possible--in their original IMAX framing, just as they were intended
- Gotham Tonight: 6 episodes of Gotham Cable's premier news program
- The Galleries: Poster art, production stills, trailers
